'''Nicholas de fferrari of London Merchant
stranger aged 45 yeares or thereabouts sworne
before the Judge of his Majestyes High Court
of the Admiralty, and eamined uppon an
allegation given on the behalfe of [?XXXX] and
company sayeth and deposeth thereto as followeth
videlicet./

To the first article of the allegation given
aforesaid, hee sayeth and deposeth uppon
his oath, That a Register from the Contraction
house in Sivill in Spaine which this examinate
hath seene it appeareth That within the
tyme articulate ffrancisco Allecant was
Master of the shipp the ''Santa Clara'', in her voyage
from Saint Lucar to the West Indyes, and soe he
was publikely accompted and reputed to be, And
this hee affirmeth uppon his oath to bee true./

To the second hee sayeth That the constant
custome amongst the subiects of the Kinge
of Spaine in the West Indyes is, for the
Master of the shipp which taketh in any goods there
to make an entry thereof expressing
the particulars thereof and by whom they
were lade, and where and to whom to bee delivered
and a coppy of that entry signed by the
Governor the Kings Officer and the Secretary
of that place and sealed upp is usually sent
to the contraction house at Sivill and there
full faith and creditt is given to the same and
by that entry or Register the partyes to
whom the goods are consigned demannd and
receive their goods, without any particuler
bills of lading neither doe they use to signe
any bills of lading for the same And this
hee knoweth to be true who hath bin commander
of a shipp in the West Indyes which sailed from
Sivill and was consigned to returne from the
West Indyes to Sivill, and in that
voyage observed the custome to bee as aforesaid.
