|Transcription=[XXX]huisen, all dutch men and subiects of the States of the United Netherland
Provinces, and all dwellers in Rotterdam saving the said Captaine d[?a]
Rasa who is lately gonne to dwell in dort) were and are the true and
sole owners of the said shipp and of her tackle and furniture, and that noe
English, Irish, Scotch or ffrench man hath any share or part therein, nor in
any of the goods, nor had any hand in putting in this deponent master of
her

To the third Interrogatorie hee saith that the said Rocas P[XXXX] soe tooke the
said shipp to freight of him this deponent at Rotterdam, hee an
this deponent signing the originall Charter partie made by the notarie
for the voyage, a copie or duplicate whereof hee saith was aboard
his said shipp when shee was taken and is still in this deponents custodie
and saith shee was freighted by the said P[XXXX] for 6 monethes last, which
to secure or not to secure the said merchant any longer and was to receave his freight of the said P[?orvee] at Rotterdam, and
saith that from Cadiz aforesaid hee was to saile according to such
order as hee should receive from the said P[?arXee] or his
factor, according to the said Charter partie.

To the fourth hee saith his shipps company were hired to serve by the
moneth soe longe as this examinate had occasion to use them in that
voyage, and were to be paid by this deponent and the rest of the shipps
owners, who victualled the said shipp, which was victualled for tenn
monethes or thereabouts with hering, stockfish, [?habbardXXX], beefe,
butter, cheese, and beere and other necessaries.

To the fifth hee saith hee hath knowne the said Rocas P[XXXX] about
eighteene yeares last, but did not knowe his parents, yet well
knoweth his friends and k[?kindred] who hee saith are dutch and soe is hee
the said Rocas.

To the sixth hee saith that all the powder that was seized in the said
shipp was laden abaord her at Rotterdam. And saith the said
affreightment was soe made about a moneth or five weekes before shee
was fitted to proceede on the said voyage, and soe longe before this deponent
knewe of the voyage, and whether hee should goe and what hee should
carry, referring himselfe for further particulars to the said Charter partie
which hee is readie to produce.

To the 7th hee saith that the said shipp had not bin at Bourdeaux nor other
olace in ffrance nor had the said P[XXXXs] [sonne] aboard when shee was
seized as aforesaid, shee being then in her course for Bourdeaux to
fetch him, and in the interin the care of her lading was committed
to this deponent , who was to leave the disposall thereof to the said
P[XXXXXs] sonne when hee should be taken aboard.

To the eighth hee saith that after the said shipps departure from Rotterdam
shee was not in any port or harbour before her said seizure, saving that
about two dayes after her said departure, meeting with fowle weather
shee was forced to put into Go[XXX] [XXXt] in holland and stay there for
the space of three dayes to attend the comming of the weather faire,
nor had shee delivered out nor taken in any goods after her said departure
from Rotterdam, and the rest of the said tenne dayes, or thereabourts betwixt
her said departure and seizure shee spent at sea the weather being
calmish. And otherwise hee cannot answer.

To the ninenth hee saith that this deponent was determined to bame the
said shipp the ''Rat van Aventure'' before was (sic) upon the stocke to be
built, and that shee was never called or intended to be called by any other name,
and saith this deponent was alwayes intended in himselfe and designed by
the rest of the owners to goe master of her, and that there was never
any thought of putting any [XXXX] man master of her.
