		+	Against the ''Saint John'' aforesaid.

		+	'''Hendrick Meulman''' of hambourgh Mariner
		+	Stiersman of the said shipp the ''Saint John'' aged
		+	31 yeares or thereabouts, sworne and examined.
		+
		+	To the first and second articles hee saith and deposeth that the vessell the
		+
		+	''Saint John'' aforesaid was taken and rescued by Captaine Clarke
		+	aforesaid not farr from haver da Grace on or about the seaventh day
		+	of this instant moneth of August 1651, about two of the clock in the
		+	agternoone at which time shee had aboard her, her lading of coals
		+	which were taken in at Newcastle and had noe other Marchandizes i
		+	her, nor any money, great guns, armes or ammunition, and saith shee
		+	was carrying the said coales for Roane, there to be sold for the accompt
		+	of the owners of the shipp who were and are [?lewes] da Boys, h[XXXX]
		+	hopp, Martin B[?owerburgh] and his precontest the Skipper, all
		+	hamburghers, there resident, and subiects of that State, and that hee
		+	this examinate hath noe part or share therein. And saith that the said vessell belongeth to the said port of hamborowe and was built
		+	at Embden, and [?that] to the time of the said Rescuse the said vessell
		+	was in the possession of a pirate or Irish man of warr who had
		+	taken her about nine of the clock the fore said day, and having taken
		+	the skipper and some of his company out of her, and keeping the rest
		+	aboard as prisoners, hee was endeavouring to carry her for
		+	Jersey with her lading, which hee knoweth being Stiersman of her
		+	and aboard her when shee was soe taken and otherwise hee cannot
		+	depose.

		+	To the third hee saith that it was in the power of the said pirate
		+	to have carried away the said shipp and lading in case Captaine
		+	Clarke had not gonne up and rescued the same as aforesaid,
		+	And otherwise hee cannot depose saving his foregoeing deposition.
