==Evidence from High Court of Admiralty==
Sixty-three year old Henderÿch Backer deposed o January 11th 1654 in the High Court of Admiralty. He was examined o interrogatories on behalf of Ryley and company in the cause of "Ryley and company against the shipp or herring busse the ''Saint Peter'', (Hendrick Backer Master)".<ref>[[HCA 13/68 f.393v Annotate|HCA 13/68 f.393v]]</ref>

The case concerned the seizure of the ship the ''Saint Peter'' (Master: Henderÿch Backer) en route from Oudenell in Norway to Amsyterdam. The ship was owned by her master, who had a one sixteenth share, and an Enkhuizen merchant namedv, who owned the remaining fifteen sixteenths of the ship. The ship's lading consisted of spars and deals laden in Norway.<ref>[[HCA 13/68 f.393v Annotate|HCA 13/68 f.393v]]</ref>
