Resident in 1666 in Ipswich in the county of Suffolk.

==Evidence from High Court of Admiralty==
Fifty year old Henry Shippman deposed on November 20th 1666 in the High Court of Admiralty.<ref>[[HCA 13/76 f.32r Annotate|HCA 13/76 f.32r]]</ref> He was examined on a libel in the cause of "Samuel Parke, Nicholas Bradly et lory propreitary navis the ''Comfort'' con the ''Hopefull Seaventure'' cujus Henricus Robinson [?ert] magister et con Dnum Emanuelem Sorrell militem ejusqur [?Notorios]<ref>[[HCA 13/76 f.31r Annotate|HCA 13/76 f.31r]]</ref>

Henry Shippman stated that he knew the ship the ''Comfort'' of Ipswich (Master: XXX). In the middle of October 1666 the ''Comfort'' was coming from Newcastle with a lading of coals. She was forced due to weather to put into Grimsby Road in the River Humber and rode there for several days. Another ship, the ''Hopefull Seaventure'' (Master: Henry Robinson) also rode there for three days, about half a mile from the ''Comfort''. Just short of midnight the ''Hopefull Seaventure'' fell foul of the ''Comfort''.<ref>[[HCA 13/76 f.31r Annotate|HCA 13/76 f.31r]]<.ref>
