“In the name of God Amen I John Pixly of the Citty of London now resident in the Towne of Smyrna within the jurisdiction of the Emperor of Turkey, though being at present sicke and weake yet of sound and perfect memory and understanding doe declare and make this my last will and testament..”

“..my body to be decently buried and for my temporall goods which it hath pleased god to bestowe on me I doe give and bequeath as followeth Item I give and bequeath unto M:r XXXX Brill the present Minister of Smyrna the sume of dollars one hundred Ryalls of 8/8 [?]

Item I give and bequeath to M:r Nathaniel Durant [?] late Minister of Smyrna the sume of one hundred doolars, Ryalls of 8/8 Item I give unto M:r Thomas Pearle Marchant Resident in London two hundred dollars, Ryalls 8/8 Item I give unto M:r Daniel Edwards Marchant in Smyrna one hundred Dollars Ryalls 8/8 Item I give and bequeath unto M:r William Alvery [?] and unto M:r John Pavarin [??] Marchants in Smyrna the sume of Dollars two hundred Ryalls 8/8 for each of them

Item I give and bequeath unto my brother Samuell Pixley (sic) one hundred dollars Ryalls of 8/8 as a token of my affection to him I say I give unto my sayd loveing brother Samuell Pixley two hundred dollars Ryalls of 8/8 Item I give and bequeath unto my servant ffrancio Gough the same sume which I received from his brother M:r William Gough when he ame to serve me as phxx acc:t in my bookes Item what shall be found to remaine of my estate over and above the forementioned legacies I give unto my brothers Samuell and Richard Pixly and my sisters Winifred and Ann Pixley (sic) to be devided in equall proporcons

Item if my estate amount not to be sufficien to make good the whole Legacies before given and bequeathed then my will is that the Legacies of the Legates aforesaid shall beare the losse and rebate proporconally (sic) according to severall sumes by me the testator given

Item I constitute and ordaine M:r Thomas Pearle Merchant in London executor of this my last will and testament, not doubting of his carefull endeavours to see it executed and legacies discharged according to my desire

Item my will and meaneing is that all my Legacies given as before expressed shalbe paid unto every Legate by my said executor twelve months after my decease Item for adjustment of acco:t and estate belonging both to my selfe and principalle and friends in my custody and charge at present or that may come for the future I constitute and appoint M:r William Mody [?] and M:t John Pouwans [?] my true and lawfull assignes with full and sufficeint power as any assigne possibly may have excepting that in vertue hereof the said John Pouiverne [?] may incur solely to his owne use and disposal all commissions or estate that may come recommended to my selfe and him joyntly desiring my said assignes to take care of my business and make home my estate unto M:r Thomas Pearle as it shall come to theire hands

Item I declare that in vertue hereof the said M:r William Mody may xxx solely to his owne use and disposall all Commissions or estate that may come recommended to my selfe and him joyntly Lastly it is my will and desire that all my former testaments shalbe voyd and invallid, and I here ratify and confirme this my last will and testament with my hand and seale dated in Smyrna the 19th September Anno 1651

THIS will was proved at London the sixteenth day of March in the yeare of our Lord God according to the English stile one thousand six hundred fifty one before William ffoorth Doctor of Laws Surrogate of S:r Nathaniel Brent Knight Doctor of Laws master or Keeper of the Prerogative Court by the oath of Thomas Pearle the executor named in the said will to whom was committed Administration of all and singular the goods chattells and debts of the said deceased he being first legally sworne well and truly to administer the same.
