Foremastman of the ship the ''Mary Rose'' of XXXX (Master: Robert Marriot).

"The premisses hee deposeth seeing the same being a foremast man of and aboard the ''Mary Rose''".

Resident in 1659 in Acton near Ipswich in the county of Suffolk.

==Evidence from High Court of Admiralty==
Fifty-one year old Robert Marten deposed on December 1st 1659 in the High Court of Admiralty.<ref>[[HCA 13/73 f.421r Annotate|HCA 13/73 f.421r]]</ref> He was examined on an allegation on behalf of ffrancis Cole and others in the cause of "Nicholas Bradley Robert Marriot and others owners of the ''John'' of Ipswich against the Mary Rose and against ffrancis Cole and others".<ref>[[HCA 13/73 f.416v Annotate|HCA 13/73 f.416v]]</ref>

The case concened the coal ship the ''John'' of Ipswich coming foul of a second coal ship, the ''Mary Rose'' just after Michaelmas 1658 near Tinmouth haven.
