Sixty year old William Tayler deposed on January 15th 1658 in the High Court of Admiralty. He was examined on a petition in "A busines of examination of witnesses upon a Qualis Quals Petitio [?preferred] and made on the behalf of Thomas Lodington George Bourman Samuell Clarke and Oliver Williams against the ship the ''Hope'' of fflushing (Claes Johnson Master and against the sayd Claes Johnson".<ref>[[HCA 13/72 f.228v Annotate|HCA 13/72 f.228v]]</ref>
