  • Insert immediately after the sentence or phrase you wish to annotate the following macro:<ref>This is the footnote text</ref>
  • Replace 'This is the footnote text' with the footnote you wish to add, using the format: first name, surname, title, (place of publication, date of publication), page or folio number
  • Save the page

The personall Answers of Richard
Batson Laurence Steele and John
Colleton and John Roberts made to the positions
of an Allegation given in against
them on the behalfe of John
Parvis and John hohnewood doe
followe

To the first pretended position they
answer and beleeve and every of them
answereth and beleeveth that those
respondents in the yeares 1648 and
1649 and untill the takeing of the shipp
the Royall merchant which was in or
about the moneth of december Anno
domini 16[?49] and noe longer ut credunt
were owners fraighters and imployers
every one of them of a sixt parte of
the shippe the Royall merchant
arlate and noe more ut credunt and
soe Accounted, ut credunt and that
these rendents and the other freighters
ut credunt did appoint the articulate
Atkinson to goe Master of the shipp arti=
culate and to hire marriners for the
said voyadge And otherwise for theire parts
they nor any of them doe not beleeve
the said pretensed position to bee true in
any parte thereof.

To the second pretended position they and
every of them answer and beleeve that
within the time arlate the articulate
Atkinson did hire the arlate Paris
and hohnewood
