24th ffebruary 1639

Roberte Peacocke of Newcastle in the County of Northumberland
mariner aged about 21 yeares sworne before the worshipfull William
James Doctor of Lawes surrogate to the righte worshipfull Sir Henry Mor[?XX]
Kte Judge of his MMajesties highe Courte of the Admirallty beinge examined
saieth and deposeth That in October or November laste paste hee this examinate
went over from Newcastle aforesaid to Dunquerke on purpose to buy
a shippe there for his owne use, and that aboute 5 or sixe weekes
after hee with the helpe of one Mr Anthonio [?DeXXX]
then resident at Dunquerke did buy a shippe then at Ostende
of the burthen of aboute twoe hundred and fifty tonnes fflemmish
builte aboute 90 foote by the Keele, 22 foote broade, and
11 foote deepe in holde and shee coste him the [?XX] penny six hundred
poundes sterlinge, and when hee boughte her as hee heard shee
was called the ffortune but hee this examinate after hee had bought
her called her the Endeavour of Newcastle, and since hee
bought her hee caused her to bee brought over from Ostende aforesaid
to Newcastle and from thense to London where shee is nowe remeninge in the River of Thames
and bounde backe againe for Newcastle and shee doth nowe [?solely]
and properly belonge to him this examinate Mr [?DXXXX] [?XXX]
Mr Roberte Younge Thomy Sharpe, John Cocke, Edward
Lawson, [?Richard] Haddon William Metchesen, who are all
Inhabitants and dwellers at Newcastle aforesaid and subiects of the
Kinge
