Transcription

Olsan in holland to freight from Amsterdam to Bar[?n]stable
hee the said Tucker on the behalfe of himselfe and the said Harris
and Nuttell did write a letter unto this deponent whereby hee did
give him notice that they by theire ffactors at Amsterdam had taken the said shippe to freight
upon the voyage in question And therefore hee did desire this
deponent that hee would procure the goods that hee and they
had laden abord the said shipp by theire factors at Amsterdam
to bee ensured at the rate of fower per cent[XX] which this deponent
did accordingly endeavour to doe, and to
that end did procure a Pollicy of Assurance to bee drawne in
the Assurance office London but could not get the same underwritten
by any at such Lowe rates as the said Tucker desired soe that there
was nothing further done concerneing the same at that tyme nor att
any tyme after that, in regard as the said Tucker being fore home
returned, there was newes brought hither that the said ship
the Brawer with her ladeing was surprized and taken by a Pirat
att Sea and of him that tooke her was bought and ransomed
for a Somme of money for the use of the said producents part of which
Ransome this deponent paid by bills of exchange drawne upon them as by
Miles Jackson theire ffactor in Amsterdam by the said producents order
and appoyntment. And saith That when the said Tucker did soe write
the said Letter unto this deponent as aforesaid thereby desireing him to gett
an Assurance of the said goods hee did allsoe send this deponent a letter
which came from the said Jackson resident in Amsterdam which said letter
did mention the said ship the Br[e]wer to bee by him freighted for the
use of him the said Harris Nottell and Tucker and withall the particulares
of what hee had laden and intended to lade abord the said
shipp for theire accompts. Both which said letters this deponent saith
hee hath now with him at the tyme of his Examination. And
otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the rest of the articles hee is not Examined by direction
of the partie producent.

To the Crosse Interrogatories [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first Interrogatorie hee saith that hee came requested by the producent
William N[u]ttle to testifie in this cause in which hee hath noe share or interest
and saith hee hath knowne the producents by the space of tenne yeares or there
abouts. And further cannot depose.

To the second and third Interrogatories hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing
deposition And otherwise hee cannot depose.
