Transcription

This hee this deponent being Master of and in the shipp the Peregrine in
Company and consortshipp with the shipp the dragon, being both Men of Warr
and in the imediate service of the parliament of England, and lying in the Bay
of Galloway, espied a shipp comeing from thence being the Enemies quarters
did make after her with the said Shipp the dragon, and did make the ffirst Shott att
the said Shipp, and in [XX XXXX] the Company thereof deserted the said
Shipp and went on shore, Imediately after which hee saith that the Company of the
dragon did first board the said Shipp, and then the Company belonging to the
Peregrine, went also aboard the said shipp, and did then and there
take her as prize and had equall plunder and share of the pillage of the said shipp,
And hee saith that by the bills of ladeinge and other writtings which they found aboard
the said shipp she was called by the name of the ffortune, and belonged to fflushing
or some Port in Zeland, Which seisure as aforesaid was made in or about the
monthes of July or August 1650 and the shipp was carryed by the dragon aforesaid into some of
the Parliaments quarters in Ireland where shee was condemned and sould for prize, And
this deponent saith that afterwards hee this deponent as Master of the Peregrine, and the rest
of the Company the rest had theire shares of the said prize duely paid or allowed
them, And further hee saith hee cannot depose./
