he saith hee is a dutchman and borne in fflushing and a subiect to that
State and the States of the United Netherland Provinces And otherwise
he cannot depose

To the 5th hee saith that the said shipp the winter king was laded in ffrance
this her last voyage att donla[?n] for the Accompt of the said producent by
his said ffactors Bass[?]roda and Coppins, And hee beleeveth that the [XXXX]
was to have paid for the ffreight of the said Corne att fflushing in case it
had safely arived there, And further he knoweth not./

To the 6th he saith that he hath knowne the said B[XXXXX] ever since
the Corne was laden att donla[?n] which is about two weekes since, and did both
eate and drinke with him who hee saith is a dutchman, And further hee knoweth not

To the 7th hee saith hee cannot depose otherwise than as aforesaid unto which
hee refrreth himself, and further hee cannot answare

To the last hee saith hee cannot depose saveing his former
depositions unto which hee refereth himself/

Examined upon the allegation aforesaid.

dt. 3us.

Cornelius Janson Vanderveld of fflushing in Zealand Mariner
aged 40 yeares or thereabouts, sworne and examined.

To the first article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that hee well
knoweth the producent Peter [?Volaix], and saith hee hath bin for all the
time arlate and is the true, lawfull and sole owner and proprietor of the
shipp the winter kinge arlate and of her tackle apparell and furniture
and soe commonly accompted, of which shipp hee this deponent hath (as hee
saith) bin master for theise fifteene monethes last or thereabouts; And
saith that the said Peter [?Velinx] was and is a dutchman, borne at
Tervie[?n] in Zealand, and that hee was and is an Inhabitant and one
of the Magistrates of fflushing, and a subiect of the Lords the States of
the United Netherland Provinces (betwixt whom and this nation there was
and is peace and amitie) and for such commonly accompted and reputed,
which hee knoweth being himselfe an Inhabitant of fflushing where hee
was borne and hath dwelt there all his time.

To the second article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that within the
time aforesaid, and more particularly in or about the moneth of June last
the said Peter [?Veluix] by his factor a Mr Basserada laded and caused the said
shipp the winter kinge to be laden at doulon in Quinparly in Bretany with
thirtie tonnes or thereabouts of Rie and about fourteene tonnes of wheat
to be thence transported to fflushing for his the said producents accompt, and
over and besides the same, hee saith there were alsoe two tonnes of wheate
laden for this deponents accompt and one tonne of wheate for accompt of the
Steersman and company to be carried and transported as aforesaid for their
respective accompts, all which hee knoweth being then master of the said
shipp and seeing the said corne laden, and signing bills of lading for his
the said [?VXXaix] his said corne, And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the third article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that the said
shipp the winter kinge being and remayning at Saint Mallos in ffrance, hee this
deponent in or about the moneth of May last had and there received letters
from his said owner the producent ordering him not to undertake any freight
but to goe and lade corne for his the said [?Velaix] his accompt at such place
as hee should be directed by the arlate Basserada and Voppens his
factors, then resident at Nantes, to whom (as hee wrote to this deponent)
hee had given order to lade the said shipp with corne for fflushing for
his accompt, or to the same effect. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
