Transcription

To the third hee saith that the said Thomas Sanchez was and is a
native of Validolid of Spaine and a subiect of the kinge of Spaine
and for such commonly accompted, and that the said shipp in her
passage for Ostend was met with and taken by the shipps of this
Commonwealth with the said silver aboard her, which hee knoweth being
hee came passenger on the said shipp the Saint George, And otherwise hee
cannot depose, saving there is peace betwixt the kinge of Spaine and
this Commonwealth.

To the crosse Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first hee saith hee imbarqued himselfe at Cadiz in the said shipp
the Saint George, and otherwise negatively, saving hee was aboard her
when shee was seized.

To the second hee saith the said producent is a batchelour and useth
voyaging merchandize betwixt Spaine, the West Indies and other
parts, and that hee hath bin in the West Indies about thirteene yeares
and most resident at Lima.

To the third hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing deposition and cannot
otherwise depose.

To the fourth hee saith the said silver was laden in the day time
And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the 5th hee verily beleeveth the said bill to be true and reall
and knoweth it to be soe fore the reasons aforesaid, but did not see
the firming And otherwise hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing
deposition.

To the 6 and 7 hee saith that after this deponents imbarquement hee sawe
the said Captaines booke of entrie of his silver and sawe the entrie[?s]
of the foresaid silver therein, with the markes and numbers and names
as in the said bill, referring himselfe to the said bill and booke, And
otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the 8th hee cannot depose.

To the 9th negatively.

To the 10th hee saith the said producent often told him (and therein
told him nothing but what this deponent knew to be true) that the said silver
was for his the said producents owne account and that hee was to beare
the sole adventure thereof.

To the 11th hee saith hee this deponent was borne in the kingdome
of Toledo but hath his most constant habitation at Lima
aforesaid, and otherwise negatively.

To the 12 and 13 hee cannot depose.

To the 14th negatively.

To the 15 hee cannot depose.

To the 16 and 17th hee did not see the signing of the bills of lading for
the said silver, but sawe that which was left aboard with the master
after this deponents said coming aboard, and thereby hee the better
knoweth that nowe showne unto him to be one of the bills signed
for the said silver.

To the 18 hee beleeveth the said producent brought the said bill
annexed from place to place alonge with him from Cadiz, and
brought the same himselfe to this citie.

To the 19th negatively saying the said Thomas Sanchez
came in the shipp of John de Vosse bound for Ostend, which came
from Cales about three dayes before the Saint George.

To the last hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing deposition, and
cannot otherwise depose.
