The 23th day of August 1653. [CENTRE HEADING]

The Clayme of Pedro Hule[?s] merchant of}
Cadiz for his moneys and goods in the}
shipp the Sampson Otto George Captayne}
the Salvador Christian Cloppenbergh}
Captaine, and the Saint George John Martins}
Captaine taken by some of the Parliament}

Examined upon an allegation on behalfe of
the sayd Pedro Hule[?s].

Manuel Corea of Varina in the
West Indies merchant aged four and
thirty yeares or thereabouts a witnes sworne
and examined deposeth and saith as followeth
videlicet.

To the first Article of the sayd Allegation this deponent saith and deposeth that
in the monethes of August September October November and december last
past 1652, the arlate Pedro Hule[?s] was and att the present is and ought
to be the true and lawfull Owner and proprietor of all and singular the
plate moneys sylver and goods arlate that is to say, of ten potacoes of
Varinaes Tobaccoes marked with the first marke in the margent,
three potacoes of Varinaes tobaccoes of the second marke in the margent
mentioned in the first schedule arlate. And of nineteene patatoes of Varinas tobaccoe marked with the the (sic) third marke
in the margent, forty five patacoes of Tobacco of the fourth marke
in the margent, mentioned in the second schedule arlate. And of, 14 potacoes
of Varinaes Tobacco of the 6th marke in the margent and of two
baggs of money of Mexico peices of eight marked with the seventh marke
in the margent, and of one great bagg of money of Mexico peices of
eight marked with the eighth marke in the margent conteyning fifteene
hundred peices of eight, five and twenty wedges or piggs of sylver
of the ninth marje in the margent, and five large wedges of sylver
of the tenth marke in the margent, and for lawfull Owner of the same
was and is commonly accompted reputed and taken, the premisses this deponent
knoweth to be true for that he saw the sayd moneys plate and merrchandises
in the quiet possession of him the sayd Pedro Hule[?s] in
the sayd Indies att his howse or lodging in Cartagena a Sea port there
in the yeare of our Lord 1651. when and where he bought the same with
the proceed of merchandises which he brought out of Spaine thither upon his
owne Accompt. And further he cannot depose./

To the second he saith that about the latter end of September 1652. the arlate
Pedro Hul[?ee] did lade and putt aboard the shipp Saint George John Martinsdorp
master att Cadiz the aforesayd tobaccoes marked with the first and second
markes aforesayd mentioned in the first schedule arlate, and aboard the
Salvador Christian Cloppenbergh master the aforesayd Tobaccoes of the third
and fourth markes in the margent as aforesayd mentioned in the second
schedule arlate, and aboard the shipp Sampson Otto George master the money[?s]
plate sylver and tobaccoes of the fifth sixth seventh eighth ninth and tenth
markes aforesayd mentioned in the third schedule arlate to be carrryed and
transported from Cadiz to Ostend and there to be delivered unto the sayd
Pedro Hul[?ee} or his factors or Agents for his Account and adventure
th epremisses he knoweth for that he was aboard the Spanish shipp wherein
the sayd moneys plate and tobaccos came from the Indies, att the tyme
the sayd moneys plate and tobacco were dischardged out of her att Cadiz annd
saw the same then and there putt into severall boates wherein the same were
carryed to the sayd shipps and arrived there safely with the same and att
the returne of the sayd boates saw the notes of receipts sent from the severall
and respective masters of the sayd shipps whereon the same were respectively
laden
