Transcription

was made for the delivery of the salt att Haver de Grace and this
deponent threw the same overboard before the seizure in question
was made, and the other was made for fflushing and was on board
att the tyme of seizure and is now in this deponents Custodye.
And lastly saith that his sayd Owners did constitute him Master of the
sayd vessell, and that he undertooke this voyage without any particukar
Instructions from them who gave him as he saith hennerall Order
by word of mouth to take the best ymployment for roffitt that he
could, and that he was to receyve his freight for this voyage att
Haver de Grace of and from the factors of the Grand party there to
whom the salt was consigned to pay four and thirty guilders
per last for one hundred and seven lasts or thereabouts being
the quantity of the sayd salt in [#]

salt he knoweth not. And further saving his subsequent
depositions he cannot depose, and saving that he had a Seabreife on board
att the tyme of seizure which is now in his owne Custody.

To the 6 and 7th Interogatories he saith his sayd shipp hath five gunnes
six musketts, six pikes, and other ammunition, four anchors
two foresayles, two great mast sayles, a mayne
sayle with his bonnet, a bezame, a mainetopsayle, a fore
mast sayle, and two spritsayles; and provisions for a moneth
for twelve men. And saith his sayd shipp furniture and provisions
att the tyme of seizure were worth nine hundred pound sterling
or thereabouts. And otherwise deposeth not having had as he saith noe
Jewells gold or sylver on board him this voyage.

To the 8. 9. and 10th he saith he is master of the sayd vessell and came
first on board her att fflushing and that he signed two Charter
partyes of different tenors as aforesayd for the sayd salt, which were left
in ffrance, and that he hath the Counterpart of one of them now in
his Custody and threw the Counterpart of the other in the sea as
aforesayd:- And further saving as aforesayd cannot depose

To the 12th and 13. and 14th he saith he signed the sayd Charter partyes
for all the shipps lading and that there was noe Pursers or
Boatswaynes booke on board him. And saith he was examined
before touching his lading of salt since the seizure, and that
part of the schedule now shewne and read to him signed Jan
Baggart was and is the originall examination as it was sett
downe and is subscribed with his hand and that the same is true
