Upon the Libell given in and
admitted on the sayd Mourtons
behalfe.

dt. Clements C3.

William May now residing in fetter Lane
but of Saint James=Towne in Virginia
Merchant where he hath lived fower
yeares and upwards, aged about 35 yeares
a wittnes produced sworne and examinned he
deposeth as followeth./

To the first and second articles of the sayd Libell given in
and afmitted on the behalfe of the articulate William
Mourton Esquire he deposeth and saith that he this deponent
went over in the yeare 1650 unto Virginia in a shipp called
the fflower de Luce belonging to this Port of London, and
that there were shipped in the said shipp and transported from
this Port to Virginia three servants for the proper use
and account of the said William Mourton Esquire, whom this
deponent well knoweth, being partly imployed unto Virginia
upon his affaires and Account, and that the sayd three servants
soe shipped and being safely landed for the said Mourtons
account at Virginia were there delivered and sold to the
arlate Jeremiah harrison of this deponents knowledge
having many times seene the said servants soe sold in the
service of the said harrison, And he saith that the three
dozen of shooes arlate were made in Virginia by one
James Attersoll a Shoomaker there and delivered unto the
Assigne of the said William Mourton in satisfaction of
a debt that the said Attersoll owed unto the said
Mourton, and that the Assigne or Attorney of the said
Mourton sold the said three dozen shooes unto the sayd
Jeremiah harrison And he further deposeth and saith
that he hath heard the arlate Jeremiah harrison say and
acknowledge that he was to pay or was indebted to the arlate
Mourton for the said three dozen of shooes the number of 828
pounds of Tobacco, and for the said three servants the
full number of 4600 pounds of Tobacco, And further he
cannot depose.

To the third article of the sayd Libell he deposeth that he being
much conversant with the arlate Jeremiah harrison in
Virginia in th time arlate hath heard him say and acknowledge that he the
sayd harrison did owe and was indebted into the arlate
William Mourton Esquire over and above for the said servants
and shooes the full number of 2000 lb of Tobacco in liew
or satisffaction of a bill that one Mrs Clerke did owe unto
the sayd Mourton, and that he would pay the same unto
the sayd Mourton or his Attorney And further he
cannot depose

To the fourth article he saith that in the yeares libellate Tobaccoes
in Virginia did beare severall rates and prices And otherwise
he knoweth not to depose.

To the fifth, sixth and seaventh articles he cannot depose.
