Transcription

The 5th day of december 1654 [CENTRE HEADING]

Examined upon a libell and schedules thereto annexed
given in on the behalfe of the sayd Mary dell./

Mary dell the Relict and Administratrix of the goods of}
John dell deceased against a certayne shipp}
called the Johns Adventure (whereof}
Richard Thurstone was Master) and}
against Roger Kilvert and Company commeing}
in for their interest: ffrancklin: Smith}

Rowland Berisford of Shadwell in the parish
of Stepney mariner aged 19 yeares or
thereabouts a witnes sworne and examined
saith and deposeth as followeth videlicet./

To the first article of the sayd libell hee saith hee cannot depose not knowing who
were the Owners of the shipp the Johns Adventure arlate the tyme arlate/

To the second and third articles of the sayd libell hee saith that hee soe well knewe
the arlate Richard Thurstone for those fower yeares last or thereabouts and saith
that in the yeares 1651 and 1652 videlicet about the moneths of June and July 1651 and
of May June and July 1652 hee the sayd Richard Thurstone was Commonly accompted
to be Master of the shipp the Johns Adventure arlate and did as Master of
her make two severall voyages from the River of Thames to parts beyond the seas in the sayd shipp videlicet one voyage
in the yeare 1651, and another voyage in the yeare
1652 the premisses hee deposeth for that hee this deponent did in the yeares
1651 and 1652 live with and was servant unto John Dell deceased while hee
lived the husband of the producent Mary dell
of whome the sayd
Thurston bought severall things and provisions necessary for his sayd
shipp in both the sayd voyages And further saving his subsequent deposition
hee cannot depose./

To the 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th and nynth articles of the sayd libell and
the sschedules in the sayd articles mentioned hee saith that hee this deponent
well knoweth that the arlate Richard Thurston did as Master of the sayd shipp John Adventure in or about the
Moneths of June or July 1651 buy of the arlate John dell this deponents
then Master, and the then lawfull owner and possessor of them, all and every
the severall things and provisions mentioned in the first schedule arlate
for the fitting and furnishing his sayd shipp to goe a voyage then from the River of Thames to partes beyond
the seas and bargaines and agreed with the sayd John dell to pay him
for the same the severall prizes in the sayd first schedule expressed
amounting in the whole fower pounds three shillings and a penny sterling
and sett downe to which schedule this deponent referreth himselfe
And alsoe knoweth that the sayd Richard Thurston in or
about the months of May June and July 1652 being then bound out
with his sayd shipp the Johns Adventure a second voyage to parts beyond
