of the said shipp, and that noe ffrenchman or ffrenchmen had or have
any interest in the said deales, and otherwise negatively.

To the 13 hee saith there was noe boatswaines or pursers booke taken of the
said lading.

To the fourteenth hee saith that hee was examined before the English Vice
Admirall aboard in the downes, and that the examination nowe showed unto
him dated the 19th of September and subscribed with his name was and
is his said examination and confession and that the contents thereof are true
and that the said subscription is his owne hand. And saith the said Grand
Partie is a companie that acts under the kinge of ffrance in the said transport
of salt, And otherwise negatively saving as aforesaid.

ffrancis Johnson of Rotterdam Mariner, Stiersman
of the said shipp the Post aged 29 yeares or thereabouts
sworne and examined as aforesaid.

To the 1. 2. 3. 4 and 5 Interrogatories hee aaith and deposeth that the shipp the
Post interrogated belongeth to the port of Rotterdam, and that one
Mr dutchman of Rotterdam was and is accompted her principall owner,
and that the rest of her owners are commonly accompted to be of that place
and all to be subiects of the States of the United Netherlands, but for her
lading of salt hee saith it was commonly said that the same was and
is belonging to the ffrench kinge, and saith the same was taken in at
Bruage in ffrance and the said shipp was going therewith (when shee was
seized) for haver de Grace, there to dischardge, which hee knoweth being
then boatswaine of her. And saith hee knoweth not of any papers or
writings aboard the said shipp, and that the said salt at the time of
the seizure consisted of 80 ffrench Moyes of salt or thereabouts. And
otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the 6 hee saith there were foure guns, 6 muskets, a small barrell of powder
two cables, three anchors and a sute of sailes in and aboard the said
shipp when shee was seized, And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the 7th hee saith that the said shipp whjen shee was seized had
provisions of victuall for her company for about 14 dayes, and had none
but her owne.

To the 8th negatively for his part, and otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the 9th hee cannot depose, saving as aforesaid.

To the 10th hee saith hee is the stiersman of the said shipp and was first
taken aboard her at Roane about fower monethes since, and otherwise hee
cannot answer saving as aforesaid.

To the 11th negatively.

To the 12 hee cannot depose

To the 13 hee cannot depose.

To the 14 hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition, and otherwise
cannot depose

Repeated with his precontest before the three Judges in Court.
