Transcription

To the 8th hee saith, the shott interrate was discharged by the Pylott
aforesaid with the assistance of other frenchmen then aboard the said
shipp, and that in this deponents sight and observation. And
further cannot depose./

To the 9th Interrogatorie hee saith there was no opposition made by this deponent
or companie against the entring of the french into the said shipp, this deponent
taking them for friends, and not beleeving they would have
used the violence predeposed, And otherwise negatively, saying the said
french might well come aboard the said shipp without any such
assistance as is interrate./

To the 10th hee answereth, That hee saw no great gunns ashoare
when the said shipp Saint Peter was fastned to the rocks interrate

To the 11th hee saith, That hee this deponent being Master of the shipp and
at the time interrate was with his owne shipps Companie for all or most
part of the fight interrate in the forepart of the said shipp, And further
referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition to the 5th article interrate./

To the 12th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition, And further
as to the particular valew of the plundered goods, hee cannot depose

Examined upon the said Allegation:/

Thunis Jacobson of fflushing in Zeeland Mariner
one of the Companie of the said shipp Saint Peter aged
41. yeares or thereabouts a Witnes sworne and examined
saith as followeth videlicet./

To the first and second articles of the said Allegation hee saith and deposeth
That hee this deponent was one of the said shipp the Saint Peters Company
when shee and her lading of wynes were seized by an Engish man of
warr, whereof one Captaine Barnett was Commander and saith the said
shipp then lay fastned with two roapes to the rocks of a little french
Island (whose name hee knoweth not,) and there shee lay at an anchor
And saith there came a french Pylott on board the said shipp neere
Bourdeaux, who was to pyott the said shipp from thence to Pontreux
in Brittanie, and the said Pylot was and remained aboard the shipp till a [?littlE GUTTER]
before the said shipps seizure, and saith the said Pylot was sent aboard the said
shipp at Bourdeaux by the Merchant who had laden the same (as this Deponent [?XX GUTTRT
and there understood) and not by the allate Legier dirrickson the Master
neither had the said Pylot any relation to the said master as one of the said
shipps Companie, nor was hee esteemed or ever reputed as one of them, And
further hee cannot depose.

To the third hee saith, That the said man of warr pursuing the said shipp the
Saint Peter, and the said french Pylot perceiving their near apprehension [?they GUTTER]
being neere to the said ffrench Island for the preservation of the Merh=chants ggoods
called unto ffrenchmen ashoare, who came in two shallopps to [?XX GUTTER]
shipp and towed her in close to the shoare where they fastned her unto [?some GUTTER]
