and saith shee was built at Stralasund about seaven yeeres since, and
that her owners were and are all hollanders by birth, but are all
resident in factories and merchantiz[?XX] at dantzike, and are by [?XXXX]
Abraham vander Slupp a halfe part owner, Jaques Laport owner of
three sixteenths, Evert Smit owner of three two and thirtieth parts,
John van Amelan owner of three two and thirtieth parts and John
Barker owner of one eighth part of the said shipp, and saith they
have bin soe owners of her for all the time that this deponent hath
bin master of her as aforesaid. And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the second hee saith hee this deponent hath alwaies dwelt
at Euchusen the place of his birth and present habitation, and that
his company are all hollanders, and they and hee all subiects of
the States of the Unuted Netherlands, only his pilot is a ffrenchman,
and that his owners are alsoe all subiects of the said States of the
United Netherlands. And saith hee hath made three voyahes with
the said shipp, namely twice to dantzike and nowe this voyage
to Bourdeaux, and that hiee went to Bourdeaux this voyage
in ballast and was nowe commming thence to goe for Saint Malo's (when
hee was taken) for ffrench mens accompt. And otherwise hee cannot
depose.

To the third and fourth Interrogatories hee saith and deposeth that the
said ship the Patience tooke in her lading at Bourdeaux about a moneth
since namely a cargo of ffrench wines consisting of 190 fats and two
hogsheads of wine, which were laden by monsieur Sages, monsieur
Gowan, monsieur Cornate, and monsieur Constant all ffrenchmen to be
transported to Saint Malo's and there to be delivered according to Charter
partie, and that of the said wines there were three hogsheads laden
for his knowledge; and that over and besides the said wines soe laden
by and for the merchants accompts, hee saith that hee this deponent
and his shipps company hollanders have aboard for their proper accompt
one hogshead of brandewine and three hogsheads of wine, which were
to be disposed of by them and for their owne accompt. And saith the said
merchants that soe laded the said wines were and are subiects of the
ffrench kinge, and that hee never knew them before this voyage, And
otherwise saving what followeth hee saith hee cannot depose.

To the fifth hee saith hee signed the originall of the Charter partie
nowe showne unto him, and the bill of lading for Saint Malo's which
were and are true, and that hee signed
the three other bills (which are for Amsterdam and nowe also showed
unto him) only for colourable bills and thereby to avoid the English and
Ostenders if it might be, such being the desire of the said merchants
and then the other paper being an Invoice or accompt of the wines
was his owne memoriall for the same, and all the said papers were
aboard at the time of the said seizure. And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the 6th hee saith the said shipp Patience and her lading were
taken by Captaine Wills at sea about 8 leagues off Roscow, and
the said Captaine showed and read a writiing hee said was his
Commission, having a greate seale with the Impression of a shipp
thereon, And otherwise hee cannot depose.
