Transcription

That accounts came therein inclosed concerning the fitting and furnishing
out of the said shipp but what the said Accompts imported, hee saith hee
knoweth not neither cann hee further depose:-/

To the third hee saith, That the interrate domingo Vaz de Britto
was and is well knowne and generally reputed a Subject of this
Commonwealth, and an inhabitant in and of this Citie of London
where it is notorious that he maintaineth and keepeth house and family:-

To the fourth hee saith hee doeth not know, nor remembreth that
hee ever heard of any Assurance or Assurances made upon the said
shipp in any of her voiages: And otherwise cannot answer to the Interrogatorie.

To the fifth hee saith, That it is publiquely knowne and reported
amongst Merchants, That the said shipp in her last voiage before
her seizure was bound from the Terreras for Lisbone, and that this
rendent was at Terreras when shee sett saile thence, And saith
by letters from beyond sea and otherwise it is well knowne, That
the said shipp in her said intended Course was surprized by a
Zeeland shipp and brought into Zeeland with her Master
and Companie, and beleeveth shee now remaineth in the hands of the
said seizors:-/ And further cannot depose:-

Peter Goodwin of London Merchant aged
34. yeares or thereabouts a Wittnes sworne
in Court as aforesaid, and examined saith and
deposeth as followeth videlicet

To the first Interrogatorie hee saith, That hee this rendent hath well
knowne the shipp the Saint Michael interrate for about three
yeares last past for and during all which time domingo Vaz de
Britto hath been and is commonly and generally reputed her sole
Owner this rendent having never heard of any others, Owner or Owners
of the said shipp which shipp this rendent, first saw at Saint Michaels one of
the Western Islands, and then and there called and knowne by that
name. And otherwise saving his subsequent deposition hee cannot
depose:-/

To the second hee saith, That as this rendent hath alwaies understood
and beene credibly informed amongst Merchants both in Portugall
and elswhere the said shipp was originally built at the proper charges
and for the proper accompt of the said domingo Vaz de Britto, but
for or upon whose accompt or charges the said shipp was sett forth
upon her severall voiages to Sea saving her first Voiage hee saith hee cannot depose.

To the third hee saith, the said domingo Vaz de Britto hath been
