Transcription

To the sixth hee cannot depose, not being at lisbone as aforesaid.

To the seaventh hee sath that the interrogated Alfonse Suarez is a
Portugese borne by common reputation, but this deponent doth not knowe
him personally, nor his father or mother, and for the reasons aforesaid
hee beleeveth the said Alfonse to have noe share in any of the goods
in question, and otherwise hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.

To the eighth hee saith hee beleeveth that the master of the Thirstie
hart was to have received his freight at Roane for the said goods in case
of deliverie there, and otherwise hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.

To the 9th hee saith hee neither knoweth nor beleeveth that any ffrench
man of subiect of the ffrench kinge hath any share or part in the goods
in question or any part thereof, nor that they or any of them or transferred
or made over from the said claimers or any of them to any other person
or persons, but that the proprietie thereof is still remaining in them
And otherwise saving as aforesaid hee cannot answer.

To the 10th negatively, saying hee hath not soe deposed.

To the 11th hee saith that hee beleeveth in his conscience the said
14 bills of lading exhibited in this cause to be reall and true and
noe wayes colourable, and that the master signed noe other of any other
tenor, referring him selfe alsoe to his foregoing deposition, and otherwise hee
cannot depose.

To the 12th hee saith hee hath by letters on behalfe of all the said claimers bin
requested to take care and to endeavour the restitution or recovery of the
said goods, which letters came from Amsterdam, and that as touching the
goods of the said Manoel Martines da Mediana of lisbone, hee hath
bin requested to take care concerning the same by letters from the said
da Costa of Amsterdam, who is the correspondent of the said Manoel,
and saith hee hath alsoe had letters from the said Alfonse Suarez from
Roane, advising him that hee was ro receive
the said goods for the accmpts of the said producents, and desiring
ythis deponent to advise him as occasion should serve concerning the
processe here depending about the same, but never had any order
from him or discussion about the claiminge thereof. And otherwise
hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.

To the 13 hee hath not doe deposed.

To the 14 hee cannot depose.

To the 15thg hee cannot depose.

To the 16 hee cannot depose.

To the 17 hee cannot depose.

To the 18 hee hath heard that the said shipp the
Thirstie hart is of about fiftie tonnes burthen, and that according to the
advise sent him from Amsterdam there were aboard the said shipp at
the time of her seizure 139 1/2 chests of sugar, 100 quintalls of
Brazill wood and 50 Rolls of tobacco, belonging to the said merchants,
And otherwise hee cannot answer.

To the 19 negatively.

To the 20th hee saith that by correspodance hee knoweth duarte Nunez da Costa
of hamborowe, father of the said Jeronimo Nunez da Costa, and
otherwise hee cannot depose

To the 21. and 22th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing deposition and
cannot otherwise depose.

To the last hee cannot depose saving his foregoing deposition to which hee referreth
himselfe./
