Transcription

To the third hee saith hee knoweth the interrogated William ffowke and
Richard Chewne, and saith the said William is commonly reputed the
brother of the producent ffrancis ffowke, And otherwise hee cannot
depose

To the 5th hee saith hee conceiveth every master vound to followe his
freighters orders, and that there is noe discretion in his breach
of them. And otherwise hee cannot answer.

To the 6th hee saith that hee conceiveth masters of shipps
bound to take in such goods as the freighters factors appoint, provided
they are laden for the same parts that the freighters goods are laden
for, and not contrary to their order, And otherwise hee cannot answer.

To the [?fifteenth] hee saith that the rates of freight are variable,
and according to the sorte of goods that are laden. And otherwise hee
cannot answer.

To the 18th hee saith that some of the freighters of the Thomas Bonadventure
are of the Turkey company. And otherwise hee cannot answer

To the 21 hee cannot answer.

To the 22 hee saith hee was never at Cyprus or Scanderoone, but
hee hath heard that masters of shipps there take in Cottons and
Galls by weight, And hee conceiveth the masters ought and may
see them weighed, and therefore hee doth not conceive it hard that
hee should be obliged to make deliverie by weight, it being his part
to take them in by weight. And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the 23 hee saith hee hath bin informed that Cottons are usually
steeved when and where they are laden, and that if the baggs are
torne when they come to be delivered, it is usuall to have them mended
aboard the shipp before deliverie of the said goods, and that the master
and owners as hee conceiveth are to be at the chardge of the said
mending or or new baggs. And otherwise hee cannot answer.

To the 24th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing deposition, And
cannot otherwise depose.

Upon the rest not interrogated by direction of the ministrant.

Examined upon the fore said allegation of 45 articles.

John Lethieullier the yonger of London Merchant
aged 24 yeares or thereabouts sworne and examined.

To the 8th article of the said allegation and to the schedules
mentioned in the same, and showne unto him at the time of this
his examination hee saith and deposeth that one of the bills of
lading arlate for the galls is for 320
baggs or sacks of galls, which said 320 baggs or sacks of galls
according to the Invoice for the same (being one of the Invoices arlate)
containe neate Turkish weight twenty thousand one hundred and fourtie
