1. from where hee saith shee was bound for dunkirke, where shee was to

3. To the second article hee saith and deposeth that while the said shipp the
4. said voyage was and remained at Roane aforesaid, there were laden and put
5. aboard her for the account of the interrogated Adrian van Roade fourtie
6. fowre tonnes of ffrench wines, to be carried to dunquirke and there to
7. be delivered to John Butler, fo who hee knoweth because hee received
8. them aboard being master as aforesaid, and signed bills of three bills
9. of lading (all of one tenor) for the same, and with the bill now shewn
10. unto him is out of the said bills, and was by him subscribed, and is
11. one of the two then hee left with Mr Samborne the lader, but for
12. the third which this deponent brought with him, hee doth not nowe knowe
13. where the same is, And otherwise hee cannot depose, nor knowing as
14. hee saith the cost of the said wines.
15. To the third hee saith that the said shipp with the said shipp with
16. the said wines (and other wines) soe XXXX and departed from Roane for
17. Dunquirke on or about the tenth of November 1654, and that in
18. the course of proceeding shee met with very much storme and
19. tempestuous weather, whereby shee neare Deale in Kent) was
20. stranded and cast away on or about the 21th of the same moneth
21. notwithstanding all the care, diligence and endeavour of this master
22. deponent the master and his company, who hee with all did their
23. utmost for the preservaton of that shipp and lading when the shipp was ashore, and saith
24. drXX, this deponent caused a hole to be cutt ˹in her bilge˺ for the saving of
25. as many of the goods ˹wines˺ as might be saved, well knowing that when the
26. tide came in (the storme next renewing) ˹the said wines˺ wines would have bin
27. utterly lost by the shipps beeting upon the ground, and fXX XXXXX ˹towards the˺

29. this deponent gave the first XXX himselfe, and so the wines were
30. rolled out for the most part, and the rest XXlit, there being a
31. necessitie of cutting some of the caskes in XXXX to make

33. taken with the charge of Mr Dala vel and carried into warehouses
34. at Lower Deale, but what quantities of Mr Van Roader wines
