Abstract & context

John Taylor wrote to Sir George Oxenden in a letter dated March 16th, 1662/63, sent from London.

In this letter, XXXX

John Taylor was probably the brother of Randall (alias Randolph) Taylor.

John Taylor's references to Alderman Temms and to John Stannian are interesting. In Randall Taylor's earlier letter to Sir George Oxenden dated October 24th, 1662, Randall had complained about debts that Temms owed him.[1] Several years later there was a court minute which mentioned the inspection of Randall Taylor's correspondence with John Stanian (following Stanian's dismissal), presumably to check for evidence of private trade.[2]
