Notes

  1. March 1665/66, Letter from Sarah Wainman to Sir GO
  2. The deceased Elizabeth Dallison, Sarah Wainman's mistress
  3. Maximilian Dallison, Elizabeth Dallison's eldest child and only son. He was vigorously contesting his mother's will, and spreading ugly allegations about his mother's supposed poor management of his estates
  4. Mary Smith, the eldest and only survivor of Elizabeth Dallison's two daughters. She was married to Henry Smith, who had been imprisoned for treason, and consequently was suffering financial difficulties. See biographical profile of Mary Smith, nee Dallison
  5. Maximilian Dallison, Elizabeth Dallison's eldest child and only son. He was vigorously contesting his mother's will, and spreading ugly allegations about his mother's supposed poor management of his estates
  6. It is possible that "Mr. Watts" refers to the London merchant, Edward Watts, who later married Martha Master
  7. John Lambton, the Surat warehouseman. Following Lambton's death in XXXX, a series of allegations were made in letters to Sir George Oxenden, about Lambton's withholding of the Indian estates of deceased factors
  8. Edith Perrin, who had been living as a lodger at Tobell Aylmer's house at the Old Corner, Ludgate Hill. Elizabeth Dallison and Sarah Wainman had also lived there in the late 1650s
