toba Potaccoes of tobacco (not laden by or claimed by the producent)

were marked '''SL''', and some '''AD''' but howe many of each, or<br />
the other markes hee remembreth not, it being soe longe since<br />
the lading, but for the markes of the tobaccoes claimed by the<br />
producent hee referreth himselfe to his former deposition made<br />
in this cause. And saith that all the markes were as<br />
hee beleeveth very firmely sewed to the Potaccoes, and<br />
such as hee tooke particular notice of were firmely sewed<br />
and that if this deponent and company, or any other that<br />
would have bin carefull in the unlading, had had the unlading<br />
of the said tobaccoes, they would and could have preserved the<br />
markes intire, and fixed on the tobaccoes, but probably<br />
since the seizure and rummaging and tugging of them<br />
without care, severall of the markes may have bin brokin<br />
or torne of. And otherwise hee cannot depose saving as aforesaid.
To the last hee cannot answere saving as aforesaid.

aged 36 yeeres or thereabouts, sworne and<br />
before the right worshippfull John Godolphin doctor<br />
of Lawes, one of the Judges of the high<br />
Court of the Admiraltie and examined<br />
upon Interrogatories ministred on behalfe of the said<br />
Zanardi, saith as followeth.
To the second Interrogatorie (upon which alone hee is by direction of the<br />
producent exámined) hee saith and deposeth that hee this deponent<br />
in the shipp ''Sara'' (whereof hee was Purser) ariving in may last<br />
was twelve moneth on a trading voyage in Tripoli, there found<br />
the shipp the ''Peter'' interrate as alsoe William Williams her commander<br />
and his company who were there detained in Captavitie, and having speech<br />
with the said Wilmar and some of his company, this deponent was<br />
informed by them that they had bin there about two monethes in slavery,<br />
and that they were taken in the said shipp ''Peter'' with and her lading comming<br />
from Smyrna bound for Venice, and by Tripoli men of warr<br />
and brought up to Tripoli, And saith Captaine Sammon commander<br />
of the ''Sara'', redeemed the said Wilmar and his mate with money, but for<br />
the shipp and lading hee saith they were and are utterly lost to the owners<br />
being taken away and disposed of by the Tripoli men, And further cannot depose
