On the behalf of Robert English}<br /> Merchant against the shipp called}<br /> the ''dorcas'' etcetera.} On the libell given in on the behalf of the<br /> said English Examined./ '''XXXX XXXX./''' '''1.''' '''James How''' of the parish of Saint Saviours London woodmonger<br /> aged 65 yeares or thereabouts a wittnes sworne and examined<br /> deposeth as followeth To the first article of the said Libell hee saith and deposeth, that for<br /> and dureing all the time arlate the arlate Thomas Sandwell was Master<br /> and Comander of the shipp the ''dorcas'' arlate and had the care and chardge<br /> thereof, and for such during all the time aforesaid was comonly<br /> accompted reputed and taken, which hee knoweth for that hee hath<br /> sometimes bought of him part of his said shipps lading of Coales when<br /> hee hath bin Master thereof as aforesaid And further hee cannot depose. To the iith article of the said libell hee saith that the<br /> said Thomas Sandwell being (as hee conceiveth) [?remooved] from the comand<br /> of the said shipp, one Samuell James within the time arlate or moneth of [XXXX] following brought the<br /> said shipp with the Coales arlate upp to this Port of London, and there [?proceeded]<br /> to sell said the Coales unto this deponent who offored him<br /> fortie pounds [?ascore] for everyone and twenty Chaldron to the [?score]<br /> which the said James refuseing, this deponent saith that hee did credibly heare<br /> and was certainely informed that the said Samuell James sould the said<br /> coales to one Robert Lott att the Iron gate for thirtie three pounds the score<br /> And further hee knoweth not saveing the said James tould this deponent<br /> also as much that hee had sould the coales but for 33 li the score as aforesaid To the 13.th hee saith hee cannot depose.
