Transcription To the 7th article of the said Allegation To the 7th article of the said Allegation hee saith hee well knoweth the shipp or<br /> Vessell the ''dove'' arlate, whereof Walter Cable was Master, and saith the<br /> said Vessell upon or about the seaventh day of August last past, in the<br /> night in Companie with the ''William and James'' qwherein this deponent<br /> served, passed a place in the sea called the Well, but whether any dammage<br /> was done in the said passage to the shipp the ''Successe'' arlate this deponent knoweth<br /> not, having not, so farr as hee remembreth, ever seene the said shipp ''Successe''<br /> neither at that nor any other time or place. And further cannot depose./ To the 10th hee saith, hee this deponent never heard the said Cable acknowledge<br /> any such thing as in the said article is expressed, nor any thing to that or the<br /> like effect. And further cannot depose./ To the rest hee is not examined by direction of the producent./ To the Crosse Interrogatories:-/ [CENTRE HEADING] To the first Interrogatorie hee saith, hee cometh to be a Wittnesse in this Cause<br /> at the request of the Master of the said shipp ''Successe'', and saith hee hath<br /> had onely twelve pence of the producent for his charges in coming to bee<br /> examined in this Cause, and expecteth not, nor is promised any more by any<br /> person whatsoever, And otherwise negatively:-/ To the second hee saith hee first saw the shipp the ''dove'' arlate about 16, or<br /> 17. yeares since, and sailed in her then to Norway, and hath seene her severall<br /> times since, but remembreth not the times or places, save as aforesaid, and<br /> knoweth the said Cable onely by sight, And otherwise saving his foregoeing<br /> deposition cannot depose otherwise then negatively./ To the third, hee saith, That the place the Well interrate from [?CroXX GUTTER]<br /> to the Spurne is about 18. leagues over in this deponents Judgmwment and by<br /> common estimation, and saith the night wherein the said shipp ''dove'' passed<br /> that place or tract of Sea, was, as hee remembreth, a starr light night, And<br /> further cannot depose./ To the 4th hee saith hee hath not so deposed./ To the 5th hee saith, That hee this deponent hath often observed that the<br /> said shipp ''dove'' hath borne in her head the resemblance of an Angell<br /> and in her sterne the resemblance of a dove, And otherwise negatively<br /> saving his foregoeing deposition./ To the 6th hee saith hee hath not so deposed./ To the 7th negatively.
