Transcription On the same day '''Rp. 2''' '''haion JonOn the same day '''Rp. 2''' '''haion Jonson''' of housum aforesaid Carpenter<br /> of the shipp the ''Peter'' allegate, aged about<br /> 40ty yeares, a wittnes sworne before the sayd<br /> Doctor Godolphin, deposeth as followeth To the first and second articles he deposeth and saith<br /> that the arlate James Lordell and Company were and<br /> are the true and lawfull Owners and Proprietors<br /> of the arlate shipp the ''Peter'' of howsam and of her<br /> tackle, apparrell and furniture, and that there were<br /> laden aboard the sayd shipp at Dram in Norway for the account of the<br /> arlate Mr John ffreeman and Company to the<br /> number of (about) 3 thousand deales, and (about) eighty<br /> great peices of timber and some other balkes and afees<br /> And the said lading (was consigned to be delivered here<br /> at this port of London unto the said Mr ffreeman<br /> and Company The premisses he deposeth for that he<br /> the deponent was Carpenter of the sayd shipp in<br /> two former voyages the before this last, wherein she<br /> came to the damage allegate, and that thereby he came<br /> to know the sayd Lordell and ffreeman,./ To the third article he deposeth that the sayd shipp in<br /> her course from Dram towards this port of London<br /> with her sayd lading did on or about the eleaventh of<br /> September last past in the night time strike upon the<br /> Sand northward of Yarmouth, and that thereby the sayd<br /> shipp became soe leaky, that the Master and company<br /> of her did for the preservation of their lives, shipp and<br /> goods runne ashoare the next morning at or near Crommer<br /> arlate, and that the sayd shipps company did all three come<br /> safe ashoare, and that the Inhabitants of the sayd place<br /> came in a violent and forceable manner and cutt the<br /> sayd shipps sayles, tackle and furniture and tooke the<br /> same away, and alsoe tooke away a great part of the<br /> sayd lading.
