Nuthall against Potts)<br /> aforesayd:) '''Rp. 3:us''' '''John Carter''' of Limehouse in parish of<br /> Stepney Blockmaker aged 61 yeeres or thereabouts<br /> Sworne and Examined./. To the first article of the said Allegation hee saith that for and during<br /> all the time arlate, the arlate henry Potts was Master and Commander<br /> of the arlate Ship the ''Gilly flower'', now called (as hee remembreth<br /> the ''Hopefull'', and for such was Comonly accounted; And<br /> further cannot depose To the second and third hee saith that in the moneth of November<br /> 1656: the said Ship the ''Gilly flower'', was bound on a voyage<br /> to be made directly from this port of London to Newcastle<br /> and to returne from thence directly to this port againe where<br /> shee was to end her said voyage, And further saith that<br /> in the said moneth of November 1656, the said Ship did<br /> want and stand in need of severall provisions tackle<br /> furniture, Materialls and Stock: to Proceede and goe the said<br /> Voyage, The premisses hee Deposeth for that the said time hee well<br /> Knewe the said ship the ''Gilliflower'', and went then<br /> on board her, and Alsoe for the reasons following And further<br /> cannot depose:/: To the 4th and fifth hee saith that hee verily beleeveth that in or<br /> about the moneth of November 1656: the arlate James<br /> Nuthall did send unto the foresaid henry Potts<br /> , for buying of provisions and to provide a Stock for the said Ship<br /> to goe the foresaid Voyage; and saith that the said Potts hath<br /> acknowledged soe much to this deponent And saith further that<br /> the said Potts hath told this deponent that the said Nuthall lent<br /> the foresaid money upon Bottomry: and further cannot<br /> depose it being soe long since./.
