S:r under ye date above written your honnowd Sister & myself Gritt yow by way of Marcellia under ye East India Comp:a r??evert, which XXXXXX ye Comp:a are informed was robbed between Paris & that place whire [?] unhappy XXXXXX causeth mee to send these few lynes together with a Letter from M:rs Dallyson,[1] The peace between us & holland is concluded many report not soo happy to ye Comp:a as was expected S:r Jn:e Holtz[2] [Stolz??] dyed ye day soo xxx Doct:r Cawder [?Gauden] Bishop of Worcester[3] and a friend M:r ?Limbree[4] I canot write to any other but your self being the Post is upon depture [CHECK] I Committ yow to God XXXX over

450. On behalf of Nathaniel Withers
— John Limbery of Ratcliffe, co. Middlesex, mariner, aged 36. ... That Sweet has no share in the Swann or her forthcoming voyage, John Slaney of London, merchant, being sole owner.....
...Witness was master of the Swann, and on his last voyage from Spain he brought fifteen or sixteen barrels of tobacco, worth between £500 and £600, which were laded by Nicholas Johnson, Sweet's factor, to William Watson, resident in Amsterdam. Witness received £600 or £700 for the same, with which he paid Sweet's debts, vizt to XXXX

"[March 28th, 1660] The owners of the Advice and the Committees being unable to come to a settlement, the matter is referred to arbitration, Captain Limbrey and Colonel Midelton to act for the said owners, John Langley and Michael Godfrey for the Company ; the choice of an umpire is deferred"[6]

  3. Almost certainly Dr. Gauden (b. 1605, d. 1662), Bishop of Worcester (1662), translated from Exeter. Richard Smyth reported: "Septm. 19. Dr. John Gauden, Bp. of Worcester, late of Exeter, died" (Henry Ellis (ed.), The obituary of Richard Smyth (London, 1849), p. 56). The date of death given by Richard Smyth is not, however, consistent with the date given of Sir George Smith's letter
