Paulus Volkers de Lubeck ibn natus
nauta, Master navis the Piper de Lubeck annos
agens 37 aut circiter dicit et deponit prout
sequitur Videlicet./

Ad primum et 2um rendet That hee hath knowne the said ship Piper and bin Master
of her for seaven yeers and a halfe last past, during all which time shee
hath belonged to Lubecke, and during all that time Claes Symson hath bin
owner of two eighths Jeremy Moller owner of one eighth Brartell [?Kempten]
owner of one eighth Bar[?ath] Kprdes owner of one eighth Widow [?Chuse]
owner of one eighth and this deponent owner of the other two eighths
and saith that all the said persons are
of Lubeck and there did and doe live and have allways lived there and there
were bourne, and saith that the said ship was built at Serdam and is of about
a hundred lasts burthen, And saith that about three yeeres since hee went
with the said ship from Lubeck leyden with Rye and Barly on the account of a Lubecker
bound to Lisbone and by the way was taken by a Spanish Caper who carryed
him to Saint Sebastiane in Biscay, where his corne was spoiled, but hee got
cleare and then went to Bayon and was bound with his lading of wines and
brandy to Ostend but was taken by the English and carryed into Dover
and was there cleared abd then went to Ostend, and then began this voyage
from thence to Bordeaux to seeke a freight, and saith that for this voyage
hee hired all his company at Ostend, in or about the month of Aprill last
and from thence they went in ballast, and saith that at Bourdeaux the said ship
was freighted by Englishmen and one Monsieur [?XXX] was the cheife man
and hee and the rest all English but living at Bourdeaux laded the said ship
with about 160 Tonnes of wine and Brandy and Nineteene packs
of skins, all which hee saith was soe laden to be transported in the said ship
to the port of London to which place the said ship was really bound, and the said
Lading was and is as hee beleeveth upon the account of Mr Samuel Putt and others all of
London and subjects of his Majesty of England and that the reall bills of Lading with this deponent
signed for the same) were sent overland to London, but others who were
made colourable hee carryed in the said ship declaring that she was
bound to Ostend which was done to avoyd Dutch or ffrench seizure
et alr nescit./

Ad 4um rendet That there were Eleaven with this deponent besides two passengers
onboard the said ship at her seizure his Company hee hired at Ostend as
aforesaid, and saith that one of the passengers is a High Dutchman and the other (who is
his wife) is of Ghaunt in fflanders and saith that this deponents Company are
all Swedes Lubeckers and Hamburgers and none of them are ffrench Dutch
or Danes, et alr nescit./

Ad 5um rendet That when hee was now seized he had a parchment writing with a great read seale thereof onboard,
and saith that all this writings hee did upon his seizure
deliver up to the Captaine who delivered them to him againe at Rye, and this
Examinate hath them nowe on board et alr nescit./

Ad 6um rendet That hee did not fight or make any resistance or fly from
the Caper, and saith that the said ship carryed the Lubeck flagg (which is white and Red
and never carryed any other fflag, or Colours and saith that shee was taken
by the said Caper about seaven or eight weekes since off of Rye, and saith
