at Zant and Cephalonia, amongest which hee mentioned seaventeene butts
of currans which hee said were laden for accompt of William Mico and John
heard merchants of Naples, and tha hee had signed a bill of lading for
the same at Thearra or to the very same effect, And having nowe seene
the bill of lading annexed and being as hee saith very well acquainted
with the hand writing of the said Thomas Neve, hee verily beleeveth the
name of Thomas Neve subscribed to the said bill, to be the proper hand
writing of the said Thomas Neve, and the contents of the said bill to
be true and soe had and donne as therein is contained. And saith that the
said seaventeene butts of currance were sunck amongest the
rest of the said shipps lading, and were and are thereby utterly lost to
the said William Mico and John heard, which hee knoweth seeing the said
shipp soe sunke, And otherwise hee cannot depose

Thomas Dore of South Yarmouth mariner aged 25 yeares
or thereabouts sworne and examined as aforesaid.

To the first, second and third Interrogatories hee saith and deposeth that
hee well knew the shipp the Saint George interrogated at such time as
shee was at Messina and other places in the Streights (which was about
six monethes since) and saith shee came from Zant and Cephalonia
(where shee had taken in currance) to Messina and there this deponent
was shuipt quarter master of her, and that having taken in Cotton wooll
and feathers at Messina, and his precontest henry Minor being put
master of her in place of Thomas Nevin who there left her, shee
departed from Messina in or about March last for this port of London
where shee was to dischardge, and in her course of proceeding for
Legorne where shee was intended to touch to get company, comming of
the Malo[?r]a, shee was met with and set upon by a dutch man of warr
in hostilitie against the subiects of this Commonwealth and after
severall houres fight was soe rent and shattered ny the said man of
warr that at [?XXth] shee sinck right downe and perished in the
sea together with all her lading saving tenn bales of silke which were
saved before shee sunck, all which hee knoweth being one of her company
and then and there present and seeing the premisses soe donne, And
further to the said Interrogatories or the bill of lading annexed
hee saith hee cannot depose.
