The personall answers of
William Barkely and John Batenton
made to the positions of an allegation
given in against them on the behalfe
of the Keepers of the libertyes of England
by authority of Parliament.

To the first second and third pretended
positions, they and either of them answere and
beleeve that these respondents haveinge
formerly had the said shippe the Anne alias the
Endeavour in this cause controverted taken
from them by a Jersye Pirate and carried
to Jersey the arlate Purrlay and Langley both
ffrenchmen and subiects of the ffrench Kinge
