Transcription

To the 5th he saith that by reason of violent weather in their homweards
voyag, the mast of the said shipp was crackt, and when a day after
was mended notwithstanding which hee saith they kept company with their [?fleete], and
were not thereby anywayes retarded in their voyage. And further he knoweth not

To the last he saith that att the time of the tak[XX] of the said shipp she was laden
(for the most part) with wares and other goods, the particulars whereof or the
worth thereof hee knoweth not, haveing no skill in Merchandizes of that kind, And
otherwise saveing his former depositions, to which hee referreth himselfe, hee saith he cannot
depose./

Examined upon Interrogatories on the behalf of the
said Edward Wye./

Thomas Minor of Saint Catherines nere the Tower
London Marriner aged 41 yeares or thereabouts a Wittnes
sworne and Examined deposeth as followeth videlicet./

To the Interrogatories aforesaid hee saith and deposeth that hee doth very well knowe
the Interrogated John [?RubXXXy], who was Trumpetter of and belonging to the shipp the
Saphire interrogated (whereof the producent Edward Wye was Captaine
or Comander att such time as hee this deponent came aboard the said shipp in the
moneth of March 1649 last past, and from his entranse therein contynued about
a Month, and in that time observed That the said R[XXXXX] behaved himself [XXX XXXX]
and would bee often much distempered with drinke, and was so [XXXXXd], And
hee further saith that he this deponent being ashore at Lisbone about the busines
and affaires of the said Captaine Wye was by force taken as a Prisoner and
carried aboard the shipp under the Comand of Prince Maurice, and not long after
(being at Liberty) went aboard the shipp, wherein Prince Rupert was, and [?governed]
and there found the said Rubert in that particular [XXXX], who tould this deponent that
hee had gott away from Captaine Wye, and being with Prince Rupert would keepe
and abide there, or words to that effect, And there he saith hee left him, so [?soone]
as hee could gett cleare of the shipps then under that imediate Comand All which
hee deposeth and knoweth to beetrue for that hee was Gunner on the shipp the
Saphire dureing the time aforesaid and aboard the Shipps of the said Princes, as
hee hath deposed, Amd otherwise hee cannot depose.

County of Middlesex Marriner aged twenty three yeares or thereabouts sworne
and Examined deposeth.

To the Interrogatories aforesaid hee saith and deposeth that he this deponent being aboard
the said shipp the Saphire under comand of Captaine Wye and one of
the [?GunXXXX-Crewe] in the said shipp did very well knowe the said [?Ruberry] to bee the
Trumpetter of and belonging to the said shipp who did performe that other imploymet
