John Claus Kinge of Greenwich in the County of Kent
aged Eight and twenty yeares or thereabouts sworne before
the worshipfull William Sammes Doctor of Lawes and surrogate to the righte
wroshipfull Sir Henry Marten Knight Judge of the highe Courte of the
Admiralty beinge examined saieth and deposeth as followeth videlicet
That this last sommer hee this examinate by the direction and at the
entreaty of one Mr Nowell Warner an Englishman resident
at Greenwich aforesaid did procure a certaine ffisherboate of the burthen
of aboute 40ty tonnes to bee builte at Rotherdam in Holland for his
the said Warners use and imployment, and that after the said
ffisherboate was builte hee brought her over into the River of
Thames were shee now remaneth, and the said ffisherboate hee
saieth is about 43 foote by the keele, aboute 6 foot broade
and about tenn foote deepe in the hold, and is builte after the
Holland manner and doth as hee verily beleeveth in his conscience
solely and properly belonge and appertane unto the sayd Nowell
Warner and one ffrancis Brestowe of London merchante whoe
are both as he beleeveth Englishmen borne and naturall subects to the
Kinge of England and noe stranger or fforaner as hee beleiveth
hath any interest with the sayd Warner and Brestowe in the sayd
ffisherboate and this hee saieth is true by vertue of his oath
further addinge that the sayd boate is nowe called the Blessinge and coste in the whole 4677 Gilders and is
nowe bounde out uppon a herringe voyage and hee this examinate
goeth master of her

aged about 38 yeares sworne and examined as aforesayd sayeth and
deposeth as followeth videlicet

That this laste Sommer hee this examinate
did see a certaine ffisherboate a buildinge at Rotterdam which
as his preconteste John Claus Kinge told him this examinate was a
buildinge for one Mr Nowell Warner an Englishman
and withall the sayd Claus Kinge did then desire him this
examinate to helpe him to carry the said boate over for England
to Mr Warner after shee should be furnished and
after the sayd boate was builte and rigged the same John Claus
Kinge with the helpe of him this examinate and some others brought
the said boate from Rotterdam aforesayd into the River of
Thames where shee nowe remaneth and the sayd boate with
