Nantes in one house wherein the said Basserada liveth with his wife and
family, but the said Coppins is a batchelour, and otherwise hee cannot answer,

To the seaventh hee saith his said papers aboard were true and reall
and none of them false or feigned, and otherwise hee answereth
negatively.

To the eighth hee saith that about November last hee received aboard
his said shipp her lading of wines at Nantes of the said Basserada and
Coppins for the accompt of the said producent, and otherwise negatively.

To the last hee saiith that it is not prohibited to carry corne
out of ffrance into holland, nor it will bee taken or confiscated in ffrance
though laden for holland./

Examined upon the Allegation given
on the behalfe of the said Stephens and
Company.

Matsellon London alias White Chappell
Marriner aged 21 yeares or thereabouts
sworne and Examined deposeth.

To the seaventh article of the said Allegation hee saith and
deposeth That hee this deponent being Masters Mate of the
said ship the Hopewell was present abord her at such tyme
as the ships the Saint Sebastian and the Nightinggale were
Chaced and taken by the Ship the George whereof ffrancis
Tacknell was then Comander And saith that at the said
tyme the said ship the Hopewell and the ship the Elizabeth
alias the ffortune whereof William Greene is Captaine and Comander
were allsoe then and there present and did both of them give
Chace unto and were assistant in the takeing and seizeing
of the said vessells which if they had not soe bin one or both
of the said ships the Nightingale and Saint Sebastian had escaped and
gott away from the George which hee knoweth to bee true
because hee this deponent was as aforesaid abord the said
ship the Hopewell when the said Chace soe beganne and did
see the same done and the said ships by the assistance of
the Hopewell and the Elizabeth seized by the George. And
soe much this deponent saith is well knowne aswell unto the masters
and Companyes of the said ships the Saint Sebastian and the Nightingal[?a] as allsoe
the Hopewell and the Elizabeth. And further hee cannot depose
