Transcription

upon a the main mast(?) head of the Golden Starr, which __ did as __
Deponent beleiveth(?) in defiance of the shipps of this Commonwealth which
_ is the raiger(?) d___d to believe for that the master of the Goldon
Starr after he was summoned to be visited in the name of the parliament
of England by the Captaine of the Advantage did not only wave(?) his
Cuttlate(?) over his head bidding the Advantage come vader(?) his leg, h_(?)
after one game(?) soily(?) shott had bene made by the advantage to bring h_
foresayde to the mast(?) in a mast(?) in second(?) and gafe(?) unseemly manner and
by way of defiance of the Commonwealth Frigott turned downe his b__te(?)
and hale(?) __ his naked ba___ or breeth(?) at Captaine Milly __ ___
of the sayd Advantage Frigot all which this deponent saw and observed
and otherwise cannot depose.

To the ninth he saith that during the sayd fight betweene the Advantage
Frigot and Morning Starr or Golden Starr the arlate ship the Waterhound(?)
and another Frigot of this Commonweath and both wearing the Dolar/Colar(?) __
came upp in aide(?) of the Advantage. And the master and Company of the Golden
Starr might well perregee(?) that the sayd ship the Waterhound and the
other Frigot were in the immediate ferv___ of this Commonwealth and otherwise
he cannot depose.

To the tenth article of the sayd allegation this deponent saith that after this sayd
ship the Waterhound came upp with the Golden Starr, she personally/presently(?) after
the making of 2 or 3 shotts boanded(?) and took the Golden Starr, but
that the Golden Starr, made any shot tatt she Waterhound he cannot
he saith depose. And further faith hat the foresayde flagg of defiance
was and continued(?) still att the main mast(?) head of the Golden Starr till(?)
was taken downed by some of the Company of the Waterhound, or Advantage
which this deponent well observed and saw. And otherwise same deposed.

To the eleventh and 12th article he saith he cannot depose.

To the last he saith his depositions are true.

any ship any way concerned in the business called(?) the Adventure and
saith that the Advantage att the tyme of the fight intente(?) was a ff___
built ship, and the Water hound att the same tyme a Holland built ship
and that he _ Respondent(?) was Carpenters mate of the Advantage and was _
all the sayd fight from the beginning to the end thereof and thereby
kneweth that the Advantage frigot first ilased(?) habed(?) and _____
the Golden Starr neere for hoars(?) before the Waterhound came upp
And otherwise he cannot depose.

To the 7th negatively to every part thereof.

To the 8th he saith that as he remembereth there was one shott with ___
and noe more made by the Advantage Frigott against the Golden Starr
otherwise he cannot depose.
