verily beleeveth if the sayd shipp dove had not mett with that mischance and runne upon
the sayd shipp Succcesse her bowe would not then have stood in neede of mending And
And (sic) further to this article hee cannot depose./
To the 7th
To the 8th hee saith that in his this deponents Judgment the sayd Vessell the at the tyme
of her sinkeing was about 80 tonnes and upwards and was a good tight vessell
and was with her tackle and furniture then worth fower hndred pounds sterling at the least, and
soe much hee hath heard the sayd Owners were offered for her before her goeing from
dover upon the voyage in question And hee also beleeveth that the Coales were on board her when
shee soe sancke would have yeilded if they had come safe to dover an hundred
pounds of like money And hee saith that there were in the sayd shipp when shee
sunke seaven fferkins of butter belonging to the Master and Company thereof and

boy besides the sayd master) which butter, salmon Cloathes and Instruments were well

To the first Interrogatorie hee answereth that hee cometh to testifie the truth of his
knowledge in this cause being doe requested to doe by the sayd de haze and Stock the Owners
and by david Adamson the Master of the Successe And saith hee was one of the Company
of the Successe and on board when shee was lost in manner aforesayd and was only a Common Mariner
in her and standing abaft the winlasse neere the scuttle on the same side where
shee received her hurt and thereby knoweth the truth of the oremisses predeposed the better being
soe neere the shipp the dove when shee runne upon the Successe And saith hee had
on board the Successe when shee sunke two firkins of butter 4 drye Salmon and a
great wooden bowle and some Cloathes And further cannot depose/
To the 2 Interrogatorie hee saith the first tyme hee did see the shipp dove (whereof Walter
Cable Interrogate was Master) was when shee did the damage predeposed of to the
shipp Successe at the place called the Well aforesayd and hath seene her about five or
sixe
