1. To the .19th. article. he the saith, That being att Dublin in September 1655 Last
2. there was a certayne vessell one Joyce being Master of her which was
3. dispatched away from ˹thence˺ with pipestaves for the Canaries. And he hath credibly
4. heard that she arrived safely there XX and is safely returned with a lading
5. of wynes. And otherwise he cannot depose.
6. To the 20th article hee saith he doth verily beleive that the sayd herrings and
7. beefe were much damnifyed att the tyme of their delivery out of the sayd
8. vessell the Little Mary att ffalmouth. And otherwise he cannot depose.
9. Upon the rest he is not examined by direction of the producent.
To the Crosse Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]
12. To the first Interry, hee saith hee comes to be a witnes in this cause att the Request
13. of the plaintiffe, who came to know what this Rendent could speake materially
14. in this busines by such advises as this Rendent did from send him, he being
15. the person who did lade the sayd Bodeys goods as aforesayd. And otherwise negatively
16. To the .2nd. Interrogatory he saith he was not present, when the sayd Mr Body dispatched
17. the sayd shipp att this Port. but saith that he himselfe did give the dispatches
18. att Wexford in the month of September aforesayd about the end of the sayd moneth
19. And this Rendent did often urge the sayd Masters to be gone, and one of them
20. vizt William Shrotch sayd positively he would not till he had further order
21. from his Owners, which he pretended to expect from Dublin, and refused
22. to signe the bills of lading, pretending he was Master for the shipp, and Dennys
23. for the goods. for which causes and the many quarrells that arose betweene
24. the sayd two masters, which were so Notorious that the Governour SHOULD "Governo:r" BE EXPANDED TO Governour"? of the Towne
25. tooke notice therof, and for that, the sayd Shotch did absence himselfe
26. using as was commonly sayd not heard of him, to give him dispatches, or
27. receyve bills of lading, but was enforced to make use of the sayd Dennys
28. onely in that behalfe. The sayd shipp Little Mary lost her opportunityes
29. of departing from Wexford so soone as otherwise she might. And otherwise
30. he cannot answer.
31. To the third Interrogatory he referreth himselfe to his foregoeing depositions, and
32. otherwise negatively.
33. To the fourth Interrogatory he cánnot otherwise than negatively depose.
34. To the fifth hee saith the sayd goods SXXXXXX did appeare were well condi=
35. tioned att the tyme of their lading. but he did not make any particular
36. XXXX thereof by opening of the Caske end saving And he this Rendent
37. did see the making upp of the most part of the sayd herrings and beife.
