1. ábout a dozen, for comming aboard to worke, and miscalled thXX
2. for soe comming; And otherwise hee cannot depose, saving that when
3. the said lighter was fully laden, the said Totty sent the same away,
4. and soe (it being evenning) the said Captaine went ashore and soe did
5. this deponent and the rest of the said labourers that were hired at Greenwich and the said Captaine
6. lay ashore all night, and the next day hee hired this deponent and
7. other labourers and watermen againe./
8. To the eighth hee saith that this deponents wages and XXXX came
9. to five shillings for his said worke, and hee supposeth the hire of the
10. others came after the same rate for the time of their being aboard.
11. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
12. To the nineth hee cannot depose.
13. To the rest hee is not examined by direction of the producent.

30. Abraham Skelton of Greenwich Waterman, aged
31. 26 yeeres or thereabouts, sworne and exámined.
32. To the seaventh article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth
33. that after the comming of the shipp the Edward and John to an anchor
34. in the River of Thames neere Greenwich (which was in June last)
35. Captaine Totty her commander about the 27th of the same moneth
36. came ashore at Greenwich, and hired and sent this deponent and
37. five other watermen (whereof his precontest Beniamin Lee was one
38. and his contest Safy Wandal) aboard her to worke, who going
39. aboard found a lighter with goods in her lying to the shipps side,
40. and the men aboard (as seemed to this deponent) were in a disturbanse
41. and demanded of this deponent and the said other five watermenn
42. wherefore they came, and they answering that they were sent aboard
43. by the captaine to worke, the marriners aboard, replied and said
44. that the goods were damnified, and that they would have them surveyed
45. before they should be unX unladen, and that if this deponent and
46. the said other watermen (who were sent aboard) offered to lay hands
47. to worke or hayle out any goods, they would knowck them on the heads,
48. or words to the same effect; whereupon they desisted till about
49. halfe an houre after thXX the said Captaine Totty came aboard,
50. who being acquainted with the reason why they were not at worke
51. and told them his man threatened to knock them on the heads, hee
52. said, come I will be boatswaine this once I will help you, and
53. if they will knock you on the heads they shall begin with mee first
54. or to the same effect, and soe they fell to worke till evenong and
