2. due to him as master in respect of average, and otherwise saving as
3. aforesaid hee cannot answer.
4. To the third hee saith the ..... weare and tare of shipps in the Brazile
5. voyages is more than otherwise, and therefore they have the better freight,
6. and then it is therefore the more, because to the voyage is longe and into
7. a hott countrey. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
8. To the fourth hee saith that upon losse of cable or anchor, or cutting the
9. mast for preservation of goods upon a Brazile ˹Portugese˺ voyage ˹(from Portugall)˺, be dammadge
10. hath bin and may be somtimes recovered upon a Consoldo, but
11. hee never knew any recovered upon a Brazeele voyage, and
12. otherwise he cannot depose.
13. To the fifth hee answereth negatively for his part, and otherwise
14. hee cannot answer, saving some masters having bin treated with
15. and refusing to goe upon the accustomed manner as aforesaid, the
16. designe hath bin given over.
17. To the 6th hee saith that those that goe unto the Brazile
18. voyage use to give or enter ffiansa or securitie in good sumes
19. before the shipps proceeding, to retourne with the lading to the
20. dominions of Portugall and pay the kings customs, and saith
21. the owners or their agents are usually the procurers of the Brazile
22. voyages, and doe ordinarily enter and give the said fiansa, and
23. otherwise hee cannot depose, saving as aforesaid.
24. To the seventh hee saith hee doth not conceive the Brazeele
25. voyage to be any more dangerous to the master and companies health
26. than other voyages, and saith that besides the primage and
27. wages, they have commonly private adventures in the shipp, which
28. oblige them to the defence thereof. And otherwise hee cannot depose
29. saving as aforesaid.
30. To the 8th ˹and 9th˺ hee saith hee is nothing concerned in the matter in
31. question, but hath bin and is concerned as an owner of other shipps
32. as aforesaid, and hath somtimes .... allowed somthing to masters
33. out of average, somtimes more and somtimes lesse according to his
34. discretion as an owner, and otherwise hee ........................... ˹cannot answer˺ saving
35. that two hundred crownes ... was the most that ever hee allowed.

37. To the 10th hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid, and saving the
38. master uses to put a peece of eight per day into his account
39. but it is an the owners discretion to allow it or not.
40. To the 11th hee saith there is usually from these Northerne
41. parts to Lisbone allowance to the master and company per pack
42. or bale of goods namely ˹from England˺ for crosse bound packs or bales of goods six
43. pence per pack or bale, for each latter not bound three pence and
44. for every tonn of goods other goods eighteen pence, and hee conceiveth
45. they have the like from other parts, and otherwise hee cannot answer
46. saving as aforesaid.
