  • Insert immediately after the sentence or phrase you wish to annotate the following macro:<ref>This is the footnote text</ref>
  • Replace 'This is the footnote text' with the footnote you wish to add, using the format: first name, surname, title, (place of publication, date of publication), page or folio number
  • Save the page

Robert Ladbrooke of Wapping in the parish of
Stepney and County of Middlesex mariner, late Quarter
Masters Mate of the shipp ffreetrade of London
(John Gibbs Master) sworne before the right worshipfull [BLANK IN MANUSCRIPT]
one of the Judges of the High
Court of the Admiralty saith and deposeth as followeth videlicet.

That hee this deponent well knewe the shipp the ffreetrade of London
whereof Captaine John Gibbs was Commander, and saith that the
said shipp was taken and surprized (in or about the moneth of Aprill
1649:) by the Kibg of Portugalls Officers or ministers to the said King of
Portugall
