1. Indigo, eighteene potacoes of various tobaccoe and three
2. thousand pound weight or thereabouts of Sassaperilla, all which hee
3. soe bought of Martin da Lizonda Captaine of a merchant man there,
4. but the precize time of such his buying the same, hee remembreth not
5. otherwise than that it was during such this deponents stay at Santa Cruse,
6. and this deponent saw the said goods laden
7. by the said producents for Amsterdam, and this deponent
8. assisted in the lading thereof for the said producent, hee this exáminate
9. being thereto procured by one John Popa, kinsman of the producent
10. and this deponents intimate acquaintance. And saith the said producent
11. soe bought the said goods for his owne account and paid for the same
12. with plate and silkes of Genoa, and other Genoa commoditoes.
13. and after such lading, this deponent saw the said producent
14. alsoe imbarque himselfe in the said holland shipp, and saw her
15. departure from Santa Cruse for Amsterdam, with the said producent and
16. his said goods in her. And otherwise hee cannot depose.

17. To the fourth hee saith hee well knoweth the arlate Thomas Clarke
18. who is commonly reputed a subiect of the States of the United
19. Netherlands, and was resident at lalagona about three miles
20. from Santa Cruse when this deponent was there as aforesaid, and
21. this deponent sawe him accompanye and assist the said producent
22. there in the time of the said lading. And otherwise hee cannot depose,
23. saving as aforesaid.

24. To the fifth hee cannot depose saving as aforesaid.

25. To the sixth hee saith there is peace and amitie (by common repute)
26. betwixt this Commonwealth and the State of Genoa, and their

30. To the first hee referreth him selfe to his foregoeing deposition, and
31. cannot otherwise depose.

32. To the second and third hee answereth that when the said producent
33. was soe imprisoned at Saint John da Xlla hee staid and was
34. kept there all the winter, and this deponent hath seene him
35. at Cadiz about 15 dayes at one time and about 20 at another,
36. and at the Canaries as aforesaid the said producent mentioned
37. about three monethes of his sight, and embarqued himselfe
38. and departed thense in the said holland shipp about March last as
39. this deponent remembreth the time, And otherwise hee cannot
40. answer.

41. To the fourth hee saith that hee cannot answer, saving as aforesaid
42. referring himselfe to his foregoeing deposition, and saving that the said
43. Clerke did much accompanie the said producent at the time of
44. the said lading.

45. To the fifth hee cannot answer, not seeing any bills signed.

46. To the 6th hee cannot answer, not being then aboard.
