12. 27 yeeres or thereabouts sworne and exámined
13. To the first ˹and second˺ árticles hee saith hee well knoweth the shipp the Morning
14. Starr arlate and hath soe donne for theise seaventeene monethes last
15. or thereabouts during which space hee hath served as Stiersman in her,
16. and knoweth the producent Egbet Scutt who with his company are
17. commonly accounted owners of the said shipp and of her tackle and furniture.
18. And saith that in the moneth of May 1656 the said Egbert Scutt and
19. company set out the said shipp from Amsterdam under conduct of
20. Claus Williams her Master upon a trading Voyage for the
21. Western Islands, laden with oile, Spanish wine, hatts, knives
22. aqua vita and severall other commodities to be bartered and trucked
23. away for tobaccoe and other goods such as hee the said master (being
24. appointed factor, or sub-marchant in that behalfe) could meete with and
25. might be most advantagious ˹for˺ his said imployers, owners of the said
26. shipp, and to retourne therewith for holland for their áccount, All
27. which hee knoweth being at Amsterdam shipped stiersman of the
28. said shipp and acquainted with the designe of the voyage.
29. To the ........... ˹third˺ árticles hee saith and deposeth that the said master
30. and company departing from Amsterdam arived in or about
31. July last with a twelvemoneth (to his best remembrance of the
32. time) at that Island of Tobago saith the said shipp and outwards
33. ladinge, and .........................went thense to the wilde coast of the West Indies
34. ˹where they did .....˺ barter away severall parcell s of the said outwards lading, and
35. therewith bought and acquired upwards of eight thousand weight
36. of tobaccoe (as hee estimateth the quantitie) contained in seaven ánd thirtie greate rolls and
37. severall small rolls of tobaccoe, six greate barrelesm, and tenn
38. small barells of tobaccoe and one caske of tobaccoe, all which
39. were laden aboard the said shipp at or neere the Wilde coast of
40. the West Indies to be transported for holland for the account of
41. the said owners, ...................................................And further
42. that there were on the said coast gotten upon truck and laden
43. aboard her by and for account of the shipps company about
44. thirteene hundred weight of the foresaid roll sort of tobaccoe
45. in barrells and rolls; and one hide and a halfe. And that all
46. the tobaccoes in the said shipp were ffor the account aforesaid, saving
47. eighteene Potaccose which were afterwards taken in at the Canaries
48. for account of Augustin Rasett a Genoese, which hee saith are
49. varinas tobaccoes, all which hee knoweth being stiersmann of the
