5. premisses hee deposeth being one of the sayd ffrigotts company and seeing the
6. premisses soe had and done And further to these articles hee cannot depose./

11. them soe stowed and lyeing ˹and tasted some of the Brandie after the hadarene came into the Plymouth harbour˺ hee knoweth that shee had divers hogsheads of viniger and
12. pipes of Brandie lying betweene decks, but the number or markes of them
13. hee knoweth not and that shee had in her cabin divers bales of goods but the contents
14. marke or number of them hee knoweth not but hath heard they were paper

29. Richard Megin of Ratcliff in the parish of Stepney Mariner
30. aged thirty two yeares or thereabouts a wittnes sworne and
31. examined saith and deposeth as followeth videlicet./
32. To the first and second articles of the sayd allegation hee saith that in the yeare 1654
33. and moneths therein concurring and alsoe in the yeare 1655 ˹at˺ Middleburrough ffrigott arlate
34. was in the ˹imediate˺ service of this Commonwealth and the arlate Godfrey as her Commander,
35. and was imployed against the dutch ffrench and other enymyes of this Common=
36. wealth, and in pursuance of such designes the sayd Godfrey and company (whereof
37. this deponent was one) did in the tyme arlate give chase to the arlate shipp the
38. hadarene and comming neere, haled her and commanded her to strike sayle, which
39. notwithstanding shee refused to doe and held on her course without strikeing or
40. yeilding obsedience to command, whereupon the sayd Godfrey caused some gunnes
41. to bee fyred at her to bring her to Lee, but shee still refused to obey and
42. continued on her course, Insoemuch that thereupon the sayd Godfrey caused his
43. Lieutenant to goe with a boate well manned and armed (there being little
44. winde stirring) to rowe up and seize the sayd shipp, which they did, and shee
45. not submitting nor strikeing sayle the sayd Lieutenant and his Crue seized
46. the sayd ........... shipp hadarene and her ladeing by force, this hee deposeth of his
47. owne sight and knowledge being one of the ffrigotts company And further hee
48. cannot depose
49. To the third hee referreth him selfe to the Act or ordinance of Parliament
