Transcription

Santa domingo, told this deponent and said that hee did not know [the GUTTER]
whole account the goods were nor whether they were Spaniards goods or not and further hee cannot depose.

To the third hee cannot depose

To the fourth hee cannot depose.

to the fifth hee saith that the arlate andreas Peterson Bowis and [thXX GUTTER]
arlate ?XXXing] were and are subiects of the united Netherlands and were
the company of the Saint Maria and saith that then the seizcurtie as one of
imployment, they offered them [?stoes] to Admirale Stokes into the states [?leving]
and hee entertained and imployed them as mariners in the ffairfax [?for GUTTER]
upon pay as other seaman, as hee beleeveth, and further hee cannot depose
saving they were afterwards by the said Admirales order put into the [?XXXXX GUTTER]
frigot, to come for England.

To the first hee cannot depose.

To the seaventh hee saith that from time to time the said Captaine [StXX GUTTER]
hath binvery honest aand carefull to preserve such goods as hee hath seized [XXX]
any shipps, and hath punished such under his command as care {[XXX GUTTER]
as conveyed any of them away as out of the said shipp, which hee knoweth
having bin lieutenant of the said ffairfax frigot a twelve month [XXXGUTTER]
upwards, and further deposeth not.

To the last hee saith his forgoing deposition was and is true

To the first hee saith hee cometh required by Captaine Story to [?XX GUTTER]
the saith in this sayle, and otherwise negatively.

at the time of the said seizure, and otherwise hee cannot answer.

To the fourth hee answereth that hee hath knoweth the said shipp [XX GUTTER]
from the time of hXX said seizure and not otherwise.

To the 5th negatively for his part, and otherwise cannot answer.

To the 6th hee cannot answer.

To the 7th hee cannot answer

to the 8th hee saith the said shipp the Saint Mary her lading at the time
the said seizure [?confissed] in hides, cacoa, Brazil wood and some tobaccoe, which
goods were delievered at [XXXX} by order of Admirale [?Stokes GUTTER]
and otherwise hee doth not remember saving what followeth.

To the 9th hee answereth, negatively for his part and otherwise hee
answereth saving as aforesaid.

To the 10th negatively for his part and otherwise cannot answer saving
aforesaid

To the 11th hee saith hee beleeveth in his conscience that the ladeing
the said shipp belongeth to Spaniards, and is so in[?XXXX] to believe [?XXX GUTTER]
several circumstances and distowses their happened t and after the part [XX GUTTER]
and otherwise cannot answer.
