My Hono:d Brother
I know you will from Many hands receave y:e newes y:t belongs to youre ffamily as alsoe w:t may insome pticuler relate to y:d whole Kingdome or perticuler Court wherein you will finde little alteration in w:t condition you ?rather left them or expected from them (I meane Kent affaires) yo:r owne family as to yo:r principall at Deane & there in y:e Most Hono:ble yo:r Mother is excedding well &, y:e rest in á good healthy prosperous condition, such as make theire freinds rejoyce &, y:d others emulate, the Lord increase it, as for my owne yo:r selfe in Solu quo remembring my freinds w:th alacrity & my selfe w:th sorrow considering o:r sewall fortunes & vicissitudes in this World, yett not dispareing but y:t God in his pvidence may raise up some to make good w:t my misfortunes have ?decayed. I have not as yett p:d all y:d Debt was owing to you in money lent. But doubt not to doo it sudainely as for other Ingagem:ts for my Children (God may sett á period to my Dayes before I may retaliate on Jott to yo:r Civilityes) but I shall not leave an ungratefull generation behinde mee nor soo poore in minde (sic as ffortune, but y:t (I shall hope ) they may bee able , & willing to acknowledge whence they have had theire greatest helpes &, contribute á ppetuall recompence to you for them.
S:r I have injoyndd w:th my sonns to bee obedent & servisable to you w:ch I doubt not but theire owne good nature will prompt them unto & I need not tell you where the power lyes incase of neglect. I heare ?Robin[1] hath y:e Language well w:ch must helpe some other omissions, I doubt noo more of Strentiams[2] dilligence y:n I would have you doubt of y:e reall affection, & due observance of
